The collection of reliquaries, or sacred relics, on display in this room since 1939, was started by Duke Wilhelm V(ruled 1579-1598). His son, Duke Maximilian I(ruled 1598-1651, after 1623 as Elector) expanded the collection, keeping it originally in the Ornate Chapel, his private oratory.
